The students from the CC Bible College in Lima visited early in the month for 7 days. They were the first team to visit this year and they started us off with a bang. Their energy and enthusiasm was contagious. They did children’s ministry in the locations of Terminal and Masusa the shantytowns where we do weekly Bible Studies. They also visited the river communities of Santo Thomas and Santa Rosa where they were warmly greeted and appreciated. The children in the river communities are quiet and shy, what a difference than the kids in the shantytown where they are used to fighting for any little thing.
With the students we visited some of the street kids at the “Portales”, (the corner where they work) and got to know them and played with them. But I think the highlight of the student’s week was visiting these same kids homes and seeing where they live. They live in the shantytown of Belen. It is known as the “floating city of Belen”, because the houses are raft like and as the river rises so do the houses.
Bill from CC Calgary Canada came to visit for 7 days, we had a great time together doing ministry and sightseeing. He had a big heart for the kids and left lots of gifts for them.
Street Kids Update: The biweekly Bible Studies at the Portales continues, I am impressed on how well they are learning and memorizing their memory verses. They work hard for the simple prizes that I give away. They are enjoying learning about the Bible and getting to color.

Ongoing Ministry: The children’s and adult Bible Studies in Terminal and Masusa continue. We also provide teaching and coloring materials to a ministry in the shantytown of San Valentine.
Team News: Most of you know Ena Modrich, a teacher from California. After much prayer she has decided to come and work in Iquitos for 1 year, she has gotten a sabbatical from her School District and is tying up loose ends. She will be here in June after the school year completes where she is currently working.
Praise Reports: The students brought lots of clothes and vitamins from CC Living Hope, and I was pleasantly surprised that someone had sent me a pair of sandals, perfect timing there was no tread left on my other ones and I was starting to slide on the sidewalks. Is God Good or what?
The day after the students left, while I was feeling a bit alone, I got a call from Lima and was invited to attend a Missions Conference at the church in Lince(Lima). I was in Lima for 6 days and Pastor Javier took over and kept things going while I was away.
First sandals then a spiritual hug from my spiritual family in Lima, just at the right time. The Lord continues to look after me and let me know He is there. It is always a pleasure visiting the Bible College in Lima it is like a spiritual oasis in the middle of that big city.
Financial Status: We received the full amount to do ministry this month. We still haven’t caught up for the slow start this year, but praise the Lord He is providing for the ministry here in Iquitos.
Thank you all for your prayers and financial support. God Bless Albert Smith
