June, 2006 - Update

Hi Everyone,

June turned out to be a very exciting month.

June / July News:

We had the team from Joshua Springs, CA, here for 9 days June 28th thru July 6th. It is amazing how much they got done, considering that two of those days were used for travel and one for Sunday service.

They hit the road running and were busy starting the construction of the bathroom for the church in El Terminal the very first work day.

We started by building a raised foundation

5 workdays later, they had the base with the plumbing in and the walls up

Baby Dedications:

We took advantage that Pastor Alfredo Acevez was visiting and teaching one Sunday to do baby dedications. They were waiting for a Calvary Pastor to visit for this very special event.

We had 4 babies dedicated that Sunday

The Joshua Springs team also did the children's ministry that Sunday. Some had the kindergarten class and the others were with the bigger kids.

The Joshusa Springs team also found time to do a "Pastor's Conference" and a "Youth Conference" for our church's youth group and a two-day "Women's Study".

Pastor's Conference:

The three day "Pastor's Conference" went very well, with Pastor Alfredo Acevez of Calvary Chapel Joshua Springs teaching on Galatians, Ephesians & Philippians, one day on each book. CC Joshua Springs also sponsored several river Pastors with room and board so that they could attend the conference.

Team News:

Great news, Jose Garate (The river preacher from Pucallpa), his wife and his two children have decided to join our ministry here in Iquitos. He will be helping with the new church in El Terminal at first until we have a Pastor, then he will be heading up the "River Ministry" for us.

Ongoing Ministry:

Due to low support & Jose moving to Iquitos, we have ended the "Milk Program" in Pucallpa.

Street kids ministry:

We see many new faces and we notice the growth of the kids that we met two years ago.

We continue to visit the kids at the Portales on Monday and Wednesday nights.
