Calvary Chapel Iquitos

Hi Everyone,

Here is our June 2011 update

We were blessed to be able to have a youth retreat this week, thanks to the "Campos Blancos Ministry" that is here in Iquitos. They not only allowed us to use thier site, but also provided the food for our 26 youths and 3 adult leaders. Also Pastor Javier who is working and serving there, helped with the teachings.

Since we saved money on food and location we were happy to be able to invite our youths from our 2 river church's; Panguana and Centro Fuerte. This was thier first retreat and they were really looking forward to it. And I'm happy to say they were not disappointed.

We taught on the life of Abraham last time, and this time we continued with the life of Isaac and Jacob. We got a lot done teaching Genesis 24-33 and still able to play games and have fun.

We put the teens into 4 teams; they competed in many things inculding volleyball, soccer, and tug of war. They were also asked to act out a Bible Story and I was pleasantly surprised that they really got into it, they really wanted thier team to win.

River Ministry

The church in Centro Fuerte is almost built, we got as much done as we could before the money ran out, but we are still praying that more will come in. Jose & Lydia are now going twice a week to Panguana and twice a week to Centro Fuerte, they say they are glad to see that going more often makes a difference and they can see that the brothers and sisters there are getting more involved.

El Terminal:

Jesus from our Youth Group, that spent his first semester at the Bible College in Lima is back, and came back really energized and ready to help. We are praying that he will get a scholorship to be able to attend the next semester in August.
