Calvary Chapel Iquitos

Hello Everybody,

Here is our October, 2022 update;

This is the latest updated since May, sorry about that. But in that time, I was blessed to be able to go to the states on furlough. And came back refreshed and ready to go.

June - A team from Hope Chapel - Hermosa Beach

Before my trip to the states, we had a delightful visit from friends from Hope Chapel Hermosa Beach, (My old church) led by Glenda Robles. They came with puppets and taught our Youth Group how to work with puppets. Our young people really got into it. and of course the children were delighted as well.

They visited Pastor Javier's outreach in the river community of "Santa Rosa", & the river community of "Centro Fuerte". they worked with the children as well as with the adults in both locations.

They also prepared a teaching for our ladies at "Calvary El Terminal".

For some reason I lost the other pictures I had of the puppets, sorry.

July in California

I got to visit family & friends in California during my visit, I also got to speak at a few churches & see old friends there. One of my first stops was visiting Pastor Alfredo Acevez & Chris at thier church "At the Cross". It was good to see old friends, some who had been to Iquitos several times, like Elaina. They have a fellowship hall there, where there was a pot-luck after the service.

Next was the Spanish Church at Calvary Murrieta; it was good to see Pastor Miguel, his wife and many other brothers & sisters who have been there for many years. Pastor Miguel invited me to lunch at his house afterwards where his wife prepared a delicious Mexican meal.

I also got to fellowship with Pastor Tony, his wife Vivi, and many who have come to Iquitos with him over the years. Pastor Tony invited me to ice cream at the "Blue Elephant", I didn't know what to expect, but it was excellent!

Another great nice surprise was that a family from Calvary Murrieta prepared a Thanksgiving dinner. They had heard of what my sister did for me a few years ago, since Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I haven't been home for them in many years. So, it was a delicious surprise and nice to get to know another family from my home church in Calvary Murrieta.

Pastor Brian & Pastor Larry were there too

Bible College Students

I want to thank those who continued to bless our Bible College Students. By faith we sent 3 students this year, so the expense is not only their airline costs, 2 flights from Iquitos to Trujillo and 2 flights back, but also for their monthly needs, which is about $100 each. Thank you all for blessing our young people, to be able to study God's word and be prepared for ministry.

It is also time to start thinking about next year, so if the Lord puts in on your heart, we need air transportation again for January, to send them, and for their monthly needs next year.

Thank you And God bless you

Pastor Jose - aka "River Preacher"

Thank you so much for those who contributed for Pastor Jose's eye surgery, a surgery to remove the cataract from his eye. He had been having dificulty seeing out of that eye, and it was affecting his ability to read and travel on the rivers. His surgery was delayed during to illness. He was ill with a flu and went and got the Covid vacine that they were pushing everyone to get here. This seemed to have caused a bad reaction, which lasted months. This being the reason that he just recently got the cataract removed from his eye.

We will be visiting Panguana, (myself and some of the boys from the youth group) every thursday until Pastor Jose is able to take over again, probably the rest of this year. Please pray for traveling mercies, and for our youth to learn missions.

Pastor Javier

Pastor Javier also got very ill in August with meningitis, and had to be hospitalized for several days. Thank you for those who contributed towards this, it wasn't in our update, since it was an immediate need. But the Lord provided for all the costs. He is better now, although it took about 6 weeks to regain his strength.
