Hello Everybody,
Here is our April, 2024 update;
As usual we have been busy with several projects.
We will start with the last month this time, since it is the highlight of this update. That is our 18th year anniversary.
Calvary El Terminal - know more known as Calvary Iquitos has been here for 18 years this month of April, 2024. We had a special night at our church. Our Youth group had several ideas for decorating the church for that night, so we gave them a free hand to do so, and they did a great job. Of course we helped, but it was all their ideas.
I gave a quick power point presentation of how we got started:

Finishing touches |
We made our planned trip to the river community of "Montebello", in January, to teach the Inductive Bible Study (IBS), but it did not go as well as planned due to the rain.
What we did not know, is that when it rains, they close the road to "Montebello", which means no transporation, only walking. We arrived around 1:00 am, and had to hike it in, about 1 hour waking in the mud with all our gear and IBS manuals for the Pastors & leaders.
More bad news, is that because of the rain the invited Pastors did not come, I guess that they did know that the road closes and did not want to hike it in. But we did have at least 4 leaders from the church who came to learn and we spend time with them.
Since we went as a team, we had 3 of the ladies from our church with us, so they did get to do a Children's Program as well as a Women's Ministry day.
Such is river ministry, you learn as you go, and you always have to be flexible due to the weather, the rain changes things greatly.

Hiking it out |
Since the rain continued, the road did not dry, so there were no moto-cars to take us to the river to catch our boat. So, we had to hike it out, at least it wasn't dark this time and we could walk without flashlights and without fighting the mosquitos.
We have 1 student at the Bible College in Trujillo, his name is Obed, the son of Pastor Raul. We send him $100 a month for his personal needs & transportation into town. We also would like to bring him home for Christmas vacation, so, if you would like to bless him you can see how to do that below. Harvest Alliance handles our finances.
We have 2 of our young people in training:
Andrea:
Chosen because of her condtion (Rheumatoid arthritis), she will need to support herself with medicines the rest of her life. She is taking a 2 year program that teaches everything to do with computers. This month the are opening up the computers and learning about the mother board and chips, replacing memory etc. They are also formatting the PC's and installing different versions of Windows.
Jeyson:
The son of Pastor Javier, they are doing everything possible to pay the monthly bills. He is studing to be a chef, the cost is about $100 a month.
Again if you would like to help with either of them, please see below on how you can bless them. Harvest Alliance handles our finances.
We were blessed with some funds that came in so we installed a water system in our church in El Terminal:
We had a column built to hold a water tank, and had the plumbing installed to our kitchen. we also had a lower tank installed, 1 half below ground level, that collects rain water. And we had a pump installed that pumps water from the lower tank to the upper tank. Then gravity feeds the water to the kitchen and the bathrooms. The tank had to be high, because by faith we hope to have 3 floors on that property.
We have been using rain water gathered in a barrel since the church began, so this is a big improvement for us, and we are very happy and grateful for this blessing that was sent to us. And also for health reasons, because this keeps the mosquito problem down.

It is still the rainy season, and water in Belen, but the rains should calm down this month, and the rivers begin to go down a bit.
