Hello, I am Albert Smith and I am the local Calvary Chapel missionary located in Iquitos, Peru. If you look around this web page you can see that I am here to minister to the people of Iquitos. We plan to do this by planting church's, raising up leaders, Start a Bible College, and to come along side river Pastors so they can better minister to their communities. We are also also here to help recieve Calvary Chapel teams and facilitate thier also ministering to the people of Iquitos.
I am from Calvary Chapel Murrieta, CA. I report to Brian Bell the Senior Pastor and Mike Ramesy the Missions Pastor there. I also report to John Bonner the director of the Calvary Chapel Bible College in Lima.
I spent three summers in the rainforest city of Pucallpa assisting Ena Modrich in the Escuelita (little School) that she started there for the children of the shanty town of "Martha Chavez" in 2001. We worked at a local Church there that became a Calvary Chapel in 2003.
In addition to learning to work with the children of the rainforest, I also worked with Jose Garate, "The River Preacher" in Pucallpa and learned the river ministry from him; Learning how to minister along the rivers to the local communities there.
I learned a bit about church planting as I watched the new church in Martha Chavez grow and develop over four years.
I also learned about how Calvary Chapel teams work, as I was able to see many teams come and go as they came to minister in Lima and in Pucallpa. I was also priviledged to lead two teams to Peru from CC Murrieta. One team served in Pucallpa in the Summer of 2003 and the other in Iquitos April of 2004.
I have been in Iquitos since April, 2004 and have had the honor of being able to serve the Lord here. I have hosted many teams since then and have been able to do ministry with teams from many different Calvary Chapel's all over the United States and Canada. I have made many good friends from these teams and look forward to seeing them when they return to Iquitos.
